Uzazi Village is partnering with Jayd Tandy Photography for a special photoshoot celebrating BIPOC mothers and birthing people in honor of Mother’s Day. The event creates space for communities that have historically been underrepresented in maternal health imagery to be seen with dignity, joy, and authenticity. Participants will receive free professional photography and may include partners, children, or family members. The images will support Uzazi Village’s advocacy and storytelling around maternal health while celebrating the strength, connection, and beauty of motherhood.
Hosted by Fathers Assisting Mothers Inc. in collaboration with Dope Black Dads KCK, this men only event brings a March Madness style game night to fatherhood education. Expectant fathers and new dads will participate in team trivia, live scoreboard competition, prizes, and expert timeouts with a doula and midwife or OB-GYN. The event focuses on preparing fathers for pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum support in a culturally relevant and engaging way.
FAM is dedicated to empowering expectant fathers with the education and resources necessary to support their partners through childbirth. We believe informed, confident fathers can significantly impact the health and well-being of their families, starting from birth.

Join us for a powerful Black Maternal Health Week gathering centered on love, fatherhood, and collective healing. Aftershock follows Black fathers who transform unimaginable loss into advocacy, art, and community care—reminding us that paternal health, presence, and partnership are essential to maternal safety and justice. Following the screening, hear from a panel of fathers sharing their lived experiences navigating childbirth, fear, loss, and resilience. Enjoy a family-friendly evening with a popcorn bar, vegan food options, a kid-friendly quiet zone, and creative spaces inspired by the Aftershock toolkit. Together, we honor Black fathers not only in grief, but in joy, responsibility, and community love.
